About kitchen makeovers and colorful dining chairs

Love this - Colorful dining chairs

1 * 2 * 3 * 4 * 5 * 6

Our kitchen is still waiting for a makeover. Our pretty 50’s stove broke and I needed a new one. I was sad about the fact that this beautiful piece of history was now broken but I also thought this might be the time to makeover the kitchen completely. I don’t like the cabinets (they are dark grey), I hate the counter top (really hard to clean metal) and the tiles are just not my taste. We also have some room left right next to the stove where we put a trolley, but it’s always a little bit of a mess because we have not enough cabinet space. I wanted a cabinet there. I thought if we needed a new stove, we could just as well do all the other things we wanted at the same time. Because if we do it later, I have to buy a stove now and later replace it for an oven and a gas cooker that we build in. Crazy right?

I’m also on the hunt for some new dining chairs. We are thinking about having colorful dining chairs like the ones you see above. Maybe all in yellow? We are thinking about painting the kitchen too, but we are not sure yet. We really love the DSW chairs. They are so pretty and classic! I absolutely love them! XO Wilma

DIY – Nail polish painted cutlery

Paint mismatching cutlery with nail polish and make it a set. The nail polish will give it an enamel look! @ By Wilma

As many of you already know I really like to shop at thrift stores. I like to find vintage stuff or just stuff that I would normally pay a lot of money for and now get for almost no money. But some stuff I found there just ask for some updating. Like these mismatching cutlery. I love the vintage style. The spoon looks like it’s a birthday spoon. There is a date on the back: 12-1-1942. If it was a gift at birth  than that makes this spoon over 70 years old! Love things like that. I only paid 10 Euro cents for each piece. To make it a set I have a very easy tutorial for you on how to paint the base of this cutlery with nail polish! Why nail polish you may ask? Well, it’s strong plus it gives the metal an enamel look. Love that!

About moving

wallpaper

I love our new home. It’s so light and spacious. Two things that are so different from our last home. I also love the big garden and the nice neighborhood. We have to do a lot in the garden before I can say it’s pretty. Right now almost everything is paved. I want to add some grass and of course flowers! I also want a patio, that would be great with the rainy weather here in the Netherlands. But for now we are still very busy inside. The last residents were living here since 1965 and were heavy smokers so you can imagine that there is a lot to do here. One of the rooms had 6 layers of wallpaper. I kept a piece of all of them. I really love the one above. I’m going to try to find a roll of that one. That would be so great!

dime and john moving

The cats were not amused by the move. John, the grey one, doesn’t really care about the new home but he does about not being able to go outside. Dime spent his first day lying under the couch. The poor thing. Now he is sleeping at his, and Johns, new favorite spot: the window-sill. They will be alright, it just needs some time..
