DIY – Chalkboard play car

DIY - Chalkboard play car

Rens had his first invitation for a birthday party. Yay! So of course we needed a great gift. The boy who invited Rens likes coloring and cars so we decided to combine the two in Rens his gift. The boy loved it! I really think this DIY project is the perfect gift for almost any little boy. I think I’m going to make one for Rens too!

Personal – My sweet boy

Rens 2samen

My life has changed a lot since I became a mommy. Rens is the sweetest  little guy that I can imagine and I’m so proud! But also super in love with him. Much more than I could imagine. And I think that’s the biggest change: that overwhelming mother feeling. Every television program about the relationship between parent and child makes me cry. I thought I knew how it would feel to be a mommy but it is so much more than I could ever imagine. And by that I only mean the positive, I really would not want anything else!

I’m also super curious about his character. Will he be a rascal, is he musical, creative? And what color will his eyes be? I can’t wait, but at the same time I don’t want him to grow up too fast because he is so cute and small right now! XO Wilma

Latest thrift store finds

latest thrifstore finds

Although my house is already filled with the nicest thrift store finds, I can not resist to keep looking. We continue to look for unique items. Here in Sneek we have a new store called ‘Mijn Tafel’. Here you can rent a table and the owners of the shop sell your stuff. The money goes to the you. What’s nice about this is that there is some really good stuff to be found and it’s mostly in pretty good condition. I already found quite a number of clothes for Rens in mint condition and Tom found a box full of Lego for only 25 Euros.

But outside of new things they also have the cute vintage stuff. Such as the teapot and kettle above. And what about the clock? We were looking for a clock for the living room and this one is just perfect!

I found this super cute retro garage at our favorite thrift store. I know Rens is not nearly ready to play with it, but I just couldn’t leave it there!

I currently have a weakness for pretty things for Rens, like toys and clothes, and vintage kitchen stuff. What are the items you have a soft spot for when you go shopping at thrift store? XO Wilma

Super cute hot air balloon fabric from Lillestoff

lillestof fabric

A while ago I got a package from Lillestoff containing a super nice fabric with hot air balloons on it! As you may know I love hot air balloons, so this totally awesome fabric will undoubtedly get a nice destination. Especially now that Rens is here. The colors are very bright and they are a few my favorites. The quality of the fabric is very good. It is a jersey that is also organic. At Lillestoff you can find many more super cute fabrics. I highly recommended to go and see!

I’ve been thinking about what I will make of it. It’s a pretty large print, so not very suitable for clothing for Rens at the moment, because he is still so little. Maybe a wrap blanket? I’ll think of something, because this nice fabric deserves to become something great!

If anyone has any ideas let me know! XO Wilma

DIY – Inspirational quote sign

DIY - Inspirational quot sign. "Excuse the Mess... The children are making memories." How to make a sign with an inspirational quote for just a few dollars! A very easy technique @ By Wilma

My best friend has always a lot of kids over at her home. She has one of her own and she is babysitting for a living. This makes that her house is never completely tidy. But who cares? The kids should be able to play, don’t they? So when she saw the quote ‘Excuse the mess, the children are making memories’ she decided it had to be on her wall. Of course I had my ideas on how to make the sign. We went to the thrift store and purchased the tabletop of a small table. Perfect for this project because it already had the desired shape! You can make a sign like this for just a few dollars, or with things you already have lying around in your home!
