These bohemian are an absolute must have for this summer. They are super easy to make but are so much prettier than simple store bought flip flops! You can use any ribbon you like for this project, as long as it’s not wider than 1/2 inch or 1,25 cm. For the flip flops I used a pair with a nice sturdy sole instead of a rubber sole. This makes your flip flops look a lot nicer and more like sandals. But it’s all up to you!
What you need for DIY bohemian flip flops
- pretty ribbon
- white twill tape
- flip flops
- Scissors
- Textile glue
- Lighter
How to make DIY bohemian flip flops
1. Take your ribbon and place it on top of your flip flop straps. Cut a little triangle in the ribbon where it has to turn the corner. Use your lighter to burn the cut edges to prevent the ribbon from fraying.
2. Glue the ribbon on the flip flop and cut of the sides so it covers your flip flops straps completely. Burn the edges with your lighter to prevent it from fraying.
3. To make the strap on top of your bohemian flip flops you have to measure your instep. Cut a piece of ribbon (burn the edges!) and a piece of the cotton twill tape and glue them on top of each other.
4. Glue the strap inside the existing straps that are already on the flip flops.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed this DIY because I’m planning on making more pretty flip flops very soon! XO Wilma
