I’ve found this metal fruit bowl at the thrift store and thought it could make a great vintage style lamp shade. I also found a small table lamp whit a hideous lampshade but whit a great shape lamp base. The lampshade is also useful for making a lampshade out of the fruit bowl. This way there is very little waist of materials. I really like the way the lampshade turned out and it was a really easy project!

How to make this DIY fruit bowl lamp
First you have to remove the fabric from the lampshade. Now you will have two metal parts. You need the part that you can attach to the lamp base. In my case that part fitted exactly inside the bottom of the fruit bowl, so look for a lampshade that does that for your fruit bowl. This makes it a lot easier to attach the parts to each other. Use the ty-raps to keep everything in place. Put the lamp together. I used tape on the cord and the inside of the lamp to prevent it from getting spray painted. Now spray paint the whole lamp. Use as many layers as needed. Mine needed like ten layers. For some reason the lamp base was very hard to get covered. Remove the tape, put a light bulb in your new vintage style lamp and your lamp is ready!
