DIY – Recycled gift card becomes geometric triangle necklace

DIY - recycled pass becomes geometric triangle necklace

My boyfriend was busy cleaning the closet and ran into some cards. Of course they were all cards we never use. That’s probably why they are in a closet. He wanted to throw them all away, but I thought I could make something fun out of it. In the past I have made guitar picks, so I knew that they are fairly easy to cut with ordinary kitchen scissors. This gave me the idea to make a necklace with it. With a little nail polish you can give the plastic any color you want. So let your imagination run wild!

Read on  to see how you can make this geometrical triangle necklace out of a recycled gift card. . .

Latest thrift store finds

latest thrifstore finds

Although my house is already filled with the nicest thrift store finds, I can not resist to keep looking. We continue to look for unique items. Here in Sneek we have a new store called ‘Mijn Tafel’. Here you can rent a table and the owners of the shop sell your stuff. The money goes to the you. What’s nice about this is that there is some really good stuff to be found and it’s mostly in pretty good condition. I already found quite a number of clothes for Rens in mint condition and Tom found a box full of Lego for only 25 Euros.

But outside of new things they also have the cute vintage stuff. Such as the teapot and kettle above. And what about the clock? We were looking for a clock for the living room and this one is just perfect!

latest thrifstore finds

I found this super cute retro garage at our favorite thrift store. I know Rens is not nearly ready to play with it, but I just couldn’t leave it there!

I currently have a weakness for pretty things for Rens, like toys and clothes, and vintage kitchen stuff. What are the items you have a soft spot for when you go shopping at thrift store? XO Wilma

Recipe – Focaccia bread

foccacia bread recipe

I had a jar of pesto in the fridge and of course you can’t have pesto without a delicious bread. Therefore I decided to make a focaccia bread. Delicious and super easy to make! The dough is very similar to pizza dough. It just has a different processing. It would also be nice to serve with soup instead of a standard baguette!

Super cute hot air balloon fabric from Lillestoff

lillestof fabric

A while ago I got a package from Lillestoff containing a super nice fabric with hot air balloons on it! As you may know I love hot air balloons, so this totally awesome fabric will undoubtedly get a nice destination. Especially now that Rens is here. The colors are very bright and they are a few my favorites. The quality of the fabric is very good. It is a jersey that is also organic. At Lillestoff you can find many more super cute fabrics. I highly recommended to go and see!

I’ve been thinking about what I will make of it. It’s a pretty large print, so not very suitable for clothing for Rens at the moment, because he is still so little. Maybe a wrap blanket? I’ll think of something, because this nice fabric deserves to become something great!

If anyone has any ideas let me know! XO Wilma

DIY – Mini bell jar from a broken wine glass

DIY - Mini bell jar from a broken wine glass

A few days ago I bumped over my wine glass.Thank God it was empty, so mopping wasn’t necessary. But unfortunately my glass was broken; the bottom came off. Basically I can still drink from it, but I’m not planning to hold it all night because I can’t set it down. A shame to throw away right? Okay, let’s be honest, we will not be drinking out of it anymore but it looked like a fun DIY project. A mini bell jar! A wine glass is the perfect shape for this. The mini ‘cake’ plateau I bought at the store, but you can also put the mini bell jar on the table without anything underneath. Tip: the thrift store  is filled with saucers without a cup. Perfect in size to slide under your new mini bell jar!

DIY – Easy and fast hat makeover

DIY - Simple and easy hat makeover

I love hats, but I must admit that I don’t wear them that much. So it would be a shame to spend a lot of money on one.  The downside of cheap hats is that the band around  it looks very cheap. I bought the hat in the picture  for 2.50 Euro on sale. The blue stripe is pretty fun, but it’s a synthetic band and it shows. I decided to give it a makeover by using a vintage band that I found a while back at a flea market. Now my had is a unique piece and it  looks so much better!
